It’s really exciting that Sky Sports Living for Sport is now launching in Ireland. Last week I went to Dublin for three days to help train up the new Irish Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentors. It was a privilege to work alongside fellow Athlete Mentors Chris Cook (Commonwealth Champion swimmer) and Dermot Gascoigne (former Boxing champion) to deliver three days of intensive training to get the new Athlete Mentors up to speed with school delivery. It was a fab three days and I have no doubt that the new Irish Athlete Mentors are going to be amazing!
So this week I have been touring up and down the country with a bunch of girls as part of the Camp Rubicon girls week. It has been awesome going to so many different skateparks and riding with girls from all over the world from all different sports including inline, skateboard and scooter. My favourite stop had to be the stop at Rampworx skatepark and the trip to Adrenaline Alley in Corby. The extension on the park in Corby is unbelievable and I had an amazing skate here!
Shout outs to Bar from Israel and Jana from Slovakia who absolutely killed the parks we went to. Also a big shout out to Fez for being so brave when she broke her ankle and for continuing on the tour despite this!
Roll on next year!
We each have our very own personal best. What’s yours?
Remember how inspired we all felt during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games? Britain’s Personal Best, one of the first projects funded by BIG Lottery Fund to keep the spirit of 2012 alive is pulling that feeling together to help us achieve something amazing. It is a call for each and every one of us to dig deep and find our own personal best. Whatever our age, ability or resources. It’s about helping each other and ourselves, taking on a challenge that is intellectual, sporting, artistic, healthy or just plain scary. Some people will be raising money for their favourite charities, doing something that they have never achieved before, be it rock climbing, or forming a new business, together or as individuals. Be inspired and take the first step to find your own personal best. Sign up with your challenge at www.whatsyours.org.
This week sees the Girls Only Reverb Tour take place across the UK. Rollerbladers, BMXers, skateboarders and scooter riders will be touring the country going to some of the biggest and best skateparks. The tour, organised by female roller Kate Egan, is all about promoting female action sports within the UK and Kate does a great job at promoting girls within these sports!
I am really excited to be attending the Rampworx stop of the tour tomorrow! It’s going to be so much fun to have a GIRLS ONLY session!
